On October 9, Figure AI, founded by serial entrepreneur Brett Adcock, released its third-generation humanoid robot, Figure 03.

This robot looks like a person and can complete daily tasks such as cleaning and handling, and may be used in various places such as homes, warehouses, and hotels in the future. Compared to the previous version, it has become smarter, more responsive, and safer, mainly thanks to stronger AI systems and more advanced sensors.

The most critical signal for investors is not how cool the technology is, but that the company really wants to mass-produce.

It is worth mentioning that less than a month ago, the three-year-old company just received more than $1 billion in Series C financing, with a valuation of up to $39 billion, becoming the world's most valuable humanoid robot "unicorn".

This huge amount of money makes Figure 03 no longer just a model in the laboratory, but a real opportunity to enter reality and be launched in batches. The market's expectations for it have been completely ignited.

Designed for mass production

Humanoid robots are now like cars from a hundred years ago - they are still just "toys" for engineers and technology enthusiasts, far from ordinary people.

But Figure AI wants to change that. The Figure 03 they launched is not to make a cool but expensive niche machine, but to become the "Ford Model T" in the robotics world - the first practical robot that is truly designed for ordinary people and can be mass-produced.

To achieve this goal, they put a lot of effort into manufacturing. In the past, when building robots, many parts were slowly carved (CNC machining) one by one, which was time-consuming and expensive. Figure 03 switches to common industrial methods such as "die casting" and "injection molding", which can be mass-manufactured quickly and cost-effectively, just like producing automobiles or home appliances.

With the new supply chain and the BotQ plant in San Jose, California, the company expects to produce 12,000 units in the first year and aims to produce 100,000 units per year over four years.

Whether it can truly be "mass-produced" is the key to whether Figure 03 can become an industry milestone. If successful, it may really usher in the era of "robots entering thousands of households".

Technology iteration: Safer and smarter

In order to allow robots to work safely and naturally with humans, Figure 03 has made many important upgrades in software and hardware.

Safer and more friendly appearance
The Figure 03's shell is made of soft, washable materials with no exposed mechanical parts, making it look gentler and safer. Compared to the previous generation, it is lighter (9% lighter) and smaller, making it easier to move around human space

It has a display next to its "face" that can display status or brand information. The most interesting thing is that its shell resembles a "knitted jacket" and can be changed at any time to adapt to different work scenarios, such as housekeeping, hotels or warehouses.

The smarter "brain" and "eye"
robot is equipped with Figure's self-developed Helix system, an AI that can "see, hear, understand, and act", making it think and react more like a real person

The head camera has a wider field of view (60% wider), faster viewing (double the frame rate) and faster response (latency reduced to 1/4 of the original).

In particular, it also has a wide-angle camera in the palm of its hand, which allows you to see what you are holding up close. The tactile sensor on the hand is very sensitive and can feel even the slightest touch of 3 grams, so it can steadily pick up fragile or oddly shaped objects such as eggs and cups.

Stronger "body" and "energy"
The robot's "muscle" (actuator) performance is doubled, and the movement is faster and more powerful. The battery it uses meets international safety standards, and the soles of its feet also support wireless charging - when it runs out of power, it can walk back to "charge" without human help

In addition, it can transmit data through high-speed millimeter wave networks at speeds of up to 10Gbps, making it convenient for a group of robots to learn and progress together.

To put it simply, Figure 03 is not just "moving", but safer, smarter, and more autonomous, truly taking a big step towards the goal of "working with humans".

Capital favor and market test

Figure AI was founded in 2022 by serial entrepreneur Brett Adcock and quickly became popular in just three years. In September 2025, the company completed Series C financing, with a valuation of up to $39 billion, becoming the world's most valuable humanoid robot company. This funding provides "fuel" for the mass production and practical application of Figure 03.

In the promotional video released by the company, Figure 03 can move freely at home and in the warehouse, and can also interact smoothly with humans and home appliances, which looks very powerful. But the market is not blindly excited, and many people are still taking a wait-and-see attitude.

Some analysts reminded that robot videos are easy to "fill with water". For example, a backflip looks cool, but it doesn't mean it can really cope with complex reality. For Figure 03, everyone is more concerned: in real life, if something is not placed in its expected position, can it adapt to the situation? Will it be "stupid" in the event of an emergency?

In the final analysis, whether Figure 03 can become the "Ford Model T" in the robot era does not depend on how exciting the video is, but whether it can really enter homes and factories, do practical work, save money, and be easy to repair.

For investors, the real test is not to see how well it "performs", but to see how much it can change from "demonstration" to "job" and really put into commercial use.
